The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Luis Eduardo Suarez Mondragon (Age 34 of Fontana) for recklessly causing a fire in Fontana.


CASE SYNOPSIS

On Sunday, November 1, 2020 officers from the Fontana Police Department responded to a call of a brush fire in the hills south of Citrus Ave and Jurupa Ave in Fontana. First responders received multiple calls indicating that the fire began near Martin Tudor Jurupa Hills Regional Park in Fontana. During an investigation of the fire, Luis Eduardo Suarez Mondragon was arrested.

After reviewing this case, our office has charged Mr. Mondragon in violation of the following section of the California Penal Code:

Penal Code Section 452(c) – Recklessly Causing A Fire Of A Structure Or Forest (Felony)
Unlawfully causing a fire of a structure or forest land is a felony punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for 16 months, two or three years, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six months, or by a fine, or by both such imprisonment and fine.
