SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. – The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has charged Louis Peter Hernandez III (41) of San Bernardino, with multiple counts of murder after a violent shooting spree, killing three victims.

On November 25th, 2023, defendant Hernandez is alleged to have shot and killed his girlfriend and another victim at a residence in Fontana, then shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in Riverside County.

Following their murders, he is alleged to have had an altercation with a fourth surviving gunshot victim also in Riverside County, which is still pending investigation.

Hernandez, a felon on probation and also post-release community supervision, is a known gang member with a history of violence including auto theft, assault with a firearm, and evading a police officer.

Currently the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has charged defendant Hernandez with three counts of PC 187(a) – Murder, and one count of PC 245(a)2 – Assault with a firearm.

Additional charges may be forthcoming pending the out of county investigation involving the fourth victim.

Special allegations for prior felonies and special circumstances have been filed for multiple murders. The special circumstance allegations create the potential for this to be a capital case.  That decision may be made at a later date by the District Attorney’s Office.

Defendant Hernandez pleaded not guilty at arraignment Wednesday, November 29th, with bail set at no bail. The next hearing date is set for December 4th, at Rancho Cucamonga Superior Courthouse at 8:30am dept. R19.
