SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. – On October 4th the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony charges against Samantha Garver (33) and Sergio Mena (32) of Sugarloaf for the alleged abuse and death of the one-year-old son of defendant Garver.
Our office has filed the following charges;
Defendant Sergio Mena
PC187(a) – Murder
PC273ab(a) – Assault on a child causing death
PC273a(a) – Child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death
Defendant Samantha V Garver
PC187(a) – Murder
PC273a(a) – Child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death.
Additionally, our prosecutors filed special allegations on the child abuse charge against Defendant Mena for great bodily injury to a child under the age of 5 years old. Both co-defendants plead not guilty at arraignment, with bail set at no bail. Their next scheduled hearing is set for October 12, 2023 at 8:30am at San Bernardino Justice Center department S2.
