SAN BERNARDINO Calif. –The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed one felony charge against Corie Smith, a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy, for conduct while serving as a peace officer.

Smith (28) has been charges with PC149 – Assault Under Color of Authority.

The incident that resulted in the charge occurred June 16, 2021 in Victorville. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department alerted law enforcement who conducted a thorough investigation leading to the charges. The San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office will hold accountable individual conduct and will file charges that can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.  Deputy Smith’s conduct in no way diminishes that of the law enforcement professionals who serve with integrity and uphold the rule of law daily within our county and across the country.

Arraignment date has been set for January 26, 2022 at Rancho Cucamonga Superior Courthouse.
