The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Samantha Michelle Reyes (Age 33 of Calexico), Carlos Salvador Lopez (Age 38 of Brawley), and Arnaldo Jose Contreras (Age 39 of Lancaster) for kidnapping and other crimes in Rancho Cucamonga.


CASE SYNOPSIS

On Thursday, April 22, 2021, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 8100 Block of Spruce Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga regarding an armed carjacking. During the investigation, Samantha Michelle Reyes, Carlos Salvador Lopez, and Arnaldo Jose Contreras were arrested.

After reviewing this case, our office has filed charges against Ms. Reyes for violating the following sections of the California Penal Code and the California Vehicle Code:

Penal Code Section 209(b)(1) – Kidnapping to Commit Another Crime (Felony)
Any person who kidnaps or carries away any individual to commit robbery, rape, spousal rape, oral copulation, sodomy, or any violation of Section 264.1, 288, or 289, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for life with the possibility of parole.

Penal Code Code Section 211 – First Degree Residential Robbery (Felony)
Robbery is the felonious taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear.

Penal Code Section 236 – False Imprisonment By Violence (Felony)
False imprisonment is the unlawful violation of the personal liberty of another.

Penal Code Section 136.1(b)(1) – Dissuading A Witness From Reporting A Crime (Felony)
Making any report of that victimization to any peace officer or state or local law enforcement officer or probation or parole or correctional officer or prosecuting agency or to any judge.

Vehicle Code Section 10851(a) – Driving Or Taking A Vehicle Without Consent (Felony)
Any person who drives or takes a vehicle not his or her own, without the consent of the owner thereof, and with intent either to permanently or temporarily deprive the owner thereof of his or her title to or possession of the vehicle, whether with or without intent to steal the vehicle, or any person who is a party or an accessory to or an accomplice in the driving or unauthorized taking or stealing, is guilty of a public offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail for not more than one year or pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 of the Penal Code or by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment.

Our office has filed charges against Mr. Lopez for violating the following sections of the California Penal Code and the California Vehicle Code:
