The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Chad Evan Young (Age 24 of Hesperia) for assault and other crimes in Victorville.


CASE SYNOPSIS

On Sunday, January 10, 2021, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 12100 block of Mariposa Road in Victorville regarding a reported assault. During the investigation, Chad Evan Young was arrested.

After reviewing this case, our office has filed charges against Mr. Young for violating the following sections of the California Penal Code:

Penal Code Section 245(a)(4) – Assault By Means Of Force Likely To Produce Great Bodily Injury (Felony)
Any person who commits an assault upon the person of another by any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years, or in a county jail for not exceeding one year, or by a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment.

Penal Code Section 273.5(a) – Injuring A Spouse, Cohabitant, Fiance, Boyfriend, Girlfriend Or Child’s Parent (Felony)
Any person who willfully inflicts corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition upon a victim described in subdivision (b) is guilty of a felony, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years, or in a county jail for not more than one year, or by a fine of up to six thousand dollars ($6,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment.

Penal Code Section 25400(a)(1) – Having A Concealed Firearm In A Vehicle – Not Registered (Felony)
(a) A person is guilty of carrying a concealed firearm when the person does any of the following:
(1) Carries concealed within any vehicle that is under the person’s control or direction any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person.

Penal Code Section 25850(a) – Carrying Loaded Handgun On One’s Person Or In A Vehicle – Not Registered (Felony)
A person is guilty of carrying a loaded firearm when the person carries a loaded firearm on the person or in a vehicle while in any public place or on any public street in an incorporated city or in any public place or on any public street in a prohibited area of unincorporated territory.

Penal Code Section 148(a)(1) – Resist, Obstruct, Delay Of Peace Officer Or EMT (Misdemeanor)
Every person who willfully resists, delays, or obstructs any public officer, peace officer, or an emergency medical technician, as defined in Division 2.5 (commencing with Section 1797) of the Health and Safety Code, in the discharge or attempt to discharge any duty of his or her office or employment, when no other punishment is prescribed, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment.
