The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Andrew Cain Valenzuela (Age 25 of Twentynine Palms) for willful cruelty to a child in Twentynine Palms.


CASE SYNOPSIS

On Monday, October 26, 2020 the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Crimes Against Children Detail were notified of a four-month-old female who was admitted to Loma Linda University Medical Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with severe injuries. During the investigation, Andrew Cain Valenzuela was arrested in the 6400 Block of Athold Ave, Twentynine Palms.

After reviewing this case, our office has charged Mr. Valenzuela in violation of the following section of the California Penal Code:

Penal Code Section 273a(a) – Child Abuse Likely to Cause Death (Felony)
Any person who, under circumstances or conditions likely to produce great bodily harm or death, willfully causes or permits any child to suffer, or inflicts thereon unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering, or having the care or custody of any child, willfully causes or permits the person or health of that child to be injured, or willfully causes or permits that child to be placed in a situation where his or her person or health is endangered, shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or in the state prison for two, four, or six years.
